Anyone out there been in the moutains when the seasons change from winter to spring?

What are the early signs?
How does the snow and ice change?
What other environmental changes would you notice?

Feel free to write or call me with observations. I am stuck on the beginning of Chapt. 18 because I am having trouble visualizing the transition.

... so I can't give any details (other than the end of summer sales, and the advertisements for Halloween and Thanksgiving-to-Christmas shopping season, stretched as far as the eye can see)

... but I think some of the signs you'd see would depend on *where* you have this scene taking place? Sierras in California, or back east?

That's not all.

It will depend on which side of the mountain range, where the prevailing weather originates, how high the elevation is, and a buttload of other factors, too. North-south running valleys get different weather patterns than east-west running valleys.

I'd recommend the book "The Natural History of California" which explains why a lot of those weather phenomena happen. Of course, I didn't get custody of that book in the divorce.
