A Day with Harry
Jun. 14th, 2005 10:27 amSo I spent the yesterday with Harry Potter. You see, I used ebay to put together a really cool Harry Potter costume for Rowan's 9th Birthday present.
The costume included:
This weekend at the festival, Rowan also picked out his own wand. The one he choose is made of bayberry wood with a tangerine quartz crystal on the tip.
So yesterday, I showed Rowan the costume and let him put it on. He absolutely fell in love with it. We still needed the dress slacks, white dress shirt and black shoes. So Granny Mary, Rowan and I went to a couple thrift stores to find the right pieces. (We also picked up some other nice bits of clothing and stuff.) Actually, I should say that Harry Potter went with us. Rowan dressed in the costume and had us refer to him as Harry all day. People in the stores excitedly greeted him as Harry too.
When we got back home, he wore the entire outfit, put the first movie DVD in and played along with the movie. It was lots of fun.
When his daddies got home, we went out to dinner at Fuddrucker's.
All in all a great day.
Today I have to do laundry and continue packing. We really could use some packing help here. No one has volunteered this week so far and we have to be packed by this weekend.
The costume included:
- Black velvet robe with gold satin lining and Hogwart's emblem embroidered on it (from England).
- Realistic looking Harry Potter glasses
- Hogwart's student hat
- Gryfindore neck tie
