Rabbits on the Move!
May. 22nd, 2005 10:50 pmSo, as if the summer plans weren’t complicated enough – we are moving! No, we weren’t planning on moving. But sometimes the unexpected event is a good one!
What happened is that we stumbled upon a house for rent thatwas nearly everything we want in a house and bit more! Ten minutes from where we live now, is a 6 bedroom, 3 bath, 2-car garage house in Hayward. The house is close to the A Street Exit off 880, toward Hesperian. It has new hardwood floors throughout, a large living room/dining room, a kitchen with all appliances and lots of cupboard space and a big back yard. Two bedrooms are downstairs and four upstairs. It has lots of storage including a semi-finished attic and great closets. So we have a month overlap in houses for moving. The house is at around 2400 sq ft (plus garage attic). The new landlord was so eager to have us that we have the first month free. We signed the lease on Saturday and are already beginning the move-in. We can’t wait to show it to you!
We will have to postpone our summer visit to the southwest until next year. We still have lots of fun plans for Rowan and the rest of the family, we just have to get moved first. We still hope to go to Seattle in July.
As usual with moving, we could really use help. There are lots of different ways to help if you can spare the time. Packing. Even if you can’t lift, there are a lot of things to be packed. We need folks willing to help pack decorations, dishes, books and lots more. We can use help any day you are available, starting immediately. The only time we will not be packing is when we will be at Ancient Ways (June 8-12).
Moving. If you can lift and move things, please let us know when you might be available to move furniture & boxes. We have to move everything from our extra large storage rental this weekend – May 27, 28 29. We have a truck Friday the 27th, so help that day would be especially helpful for moving the file cabinets. There will also be a weekend or two in June to move the house furniture.
Gardening. Well, we have a huge backyard that currently looks like a vacant lot full of weeds. Landlord says we can landscape it however we want. So we are planning to put garden beds along the fence and to sod the large yard center for a play area. We would love to get the beds laid out and the sod in soon so the yard can be used this summer.
Hot tub. The bad wiring in our current house burned out the motor on our hot tub. We are hoping to move the hot tub to the new place and get it fixed as soon as possible. Can you fix a hot tub?
Clean-up. We will also need help cleaning up the old place at the end of June.
We are happy about the house but a little stunned by how quickly things are happening.
