Peaceful morning
Today has been the quietest and most soothing day that I can remember in months -- probably since my last visit to the ranch here.
I woke in the extra soft plush bed amusingly covered in sheets that match my purple silky pajamas. The silence so amazing it was like being surrounded in a soft blanket. I opened the shades to the gray morning light. The day is overcast but luminescent. I am again amazed at how weather that would be depressing anywhere else feels gently otherworldly here. Even in the winter, the greens of the ranch seem to glow and the entire atmosphere is hushed. I have spent the day so far in bed reading and listening the Six Mile Bridge (celtic music) on my laptop. The only sound in the house right now is the soft wiring of the air system and the clicking of the keys of my wireless keyboard.
Did you know that the photo I use as my main user pic was taken at this ranch last summer? I was looking out over the pasture and barn to the mountains. I felt peaceful and I think it shows in the photo.
I don't like the house or neighborhood we live in now. The neighborhood is the noisiest I have ever lived in. And the house feels crowded. Here among the trees I long to move back to Santa Cruz or some place where I can be surrounded by trees again. No cars, horns or shrill whistles. No loud passersby. I wish I could live somewhere quiet again.
