The Sun Returns
Dec. 26th, 2004 07:46 pmSo Rowan's plane was a little late.
airshipjones met him at the gate. (They only let one person go to the gate to meet an unaccompanied minor. Since the metal in my leg makes my passage through security more time intensive, it is easier to have Troy do it.) We he and
airshipjones came through the entrance into the terminal, there was the traditional dramatic greeting. Rowan always makes it like a movie scene. He sees me, his face lights up and he runs to me with arms wide. He yells, "MamaDawn!!!" and wraps his arms around me. I long ago learned to drop to my knees because as he gets older he has gotten strong enough to accidently me knock me down. Folks waiting always enjoy the show while he hugs and kisses me and proclaims how much he loves me and misses me. I never fail to get tears in my eyes.
Rowan then happily hugged and chatted all the way to the van. He had to snuggle under
airshipjones 's heavy coat to keep warm in the rain because our ex didn't send a coat with him. On the way home he asked about friends and changes in things.
Once back he exclaims "Home! The Warren!" and hops out of the fan. He happily ran into kiss and hug Granny Mary (
redhatmary) when he got here. Then he is always like a cat -- he has to go room to room and check for any changes. He carefully notes everything! He admires things he approves of or asks about changes that puzzle him. He checks on his animal friends. He admired the chocolate cake with the "Welcome Home Rowan" and said how glad he was to be home.
He is excitedly awaiting Daddy Lon's return from work. He also keeps eying the full stocking and pile of presents under the tree. He is waiting for us all to be together to open them. I sit in the living room listening to the sound of guitars. Rowan immediately pulled out his guitar from his room and so did his Daddy Troy. They have tuned up and are now playing guitar together. He has played "Jingle Bells" and several other tunes he has memorized. A cup of hot cider steams beside him.
So good to feel whole again...
