I spent over an hour last night writing a entry only to have it disappear when I tried to save it! I was so upset I didn't even try again. So now I try to reconstruct it tonight...

Perhaps you might try a text editor to pre-format your posts. That way you can save them as text files.

LiveJournal's deleted one of my messages in process one too many times. I looked on it as a lesson in the impermanence of all things (viparinama-dukkha, or suffering caused by change). Now, if a post is gonna be more than a sentence or two, I always save it as a text file first, then copy & paste it into the LJ message box.

Yep. I HATE when that happens. It's happened a couple of times for me too. I try to remember to copy and paste the message into the clipboard or a blank e-mail, just in case LJ eats it. The other trick that often works for me is to preview first, before trying to post. For some reason that seems to work more consistently. But best is to save it somewhere else first anyway.
