Back sorta...
Sep. 10th, 2004 09:54 pmIf I haven't responded to LJ, email or phone... I have been "offline" for a good portion of the week.
I spent a day and a half with a dear friend
tapestry01 visiting from Oklahoma. He had just come from Burning Man. We first met when were were teenagers involved in "fandom" in the 70s.
We decided to escape the heat and have fun by running to my old stomping grounds in Santa Cruz. We took Hwy 92 over to Half Moon Bay and then Hwy 1 to Santa Cruz. This gave my usually land-locked friend a chance to see the ocean and run barefoot in it's waves. In Santa Cruz we got lunch at Zoccoli's and visited Bookshop SC. Then we went to Elfland and up to my old covenhome Caer Ellilon and Cat's Cradle. Then we went to the SC Warf and had shakes at my favorite candy place, Marini's Munchies. We spent some time hanging out with loud barking sea lions under the warf and watched a group of seals swimming and diving. Then we took a drive up and down West Cliff. Finally we went to hang out with
godmoma and her two sweet girls, before driving back to San Leandro. A wonderful day spent with someone I have always felt comfortable with.
I spent Wed. catching up on chores and suffering the heat.
Then I spent Thur & Fri in bed. Reading. Totally immersed in book one of Jacqueline Carey's series that begins with Kushiel's Dart. Can't wait to read the rest of the series. Should probably wait a bit before diving into the next one if it will again make me lay abed for days as with a new lover.
As I write this I am playing D&D with friends and partners.
A very good week.
Both escapes were fantastic!
