Writing makes for strange behavior...

Given the nature of my life and the world we live in, I often wonder what my behavior would look like to an outside observer. This last couple weeks in particular.

If you were tracking my online purchases through Amazon you would discover that I have purchased:
a Greek/English dictionary,
a Latin/English dictionary,
some vampire romance novels,
a lesbian photographs book,
two "baby name" dictionaries,
and two books on the history and techniques of torture.

I have also pulled from our own library shelves:
several books on death, dying and grief
a couple books on forgiveness,
a stack of books on ecstatic ritual and Dionysus
a book on Eastern religions
psychology books that address catatonic and fugue states.

I have also attempted to pick the brains of several friends on not only the above topics, but choral music and voice training, winter-to-spring weather transition in the mountains, wilderness trapping techniques, and optical illusions.

Such is the bizarre behavior of a novelist...

Brain Picking...

Anyone out there been in the moutains when the seasons change from winter to spring?

What are the early signs?
How does the snow and ice change?
What other environmental changes would you notice?

Feel free to write or call me with observations. I am stuck on the beginning of Chapt. 18 because I am having trouble visualizing the transition.
