Bad News and Difficult Decisions

So, we got bad news last night. Our ex's grandmother, i.e. our son's great-grand-mother, had a fall and is very ill. They don't expect her to recover, so our ex wants fairieboy home immediately. We just arrived at the ranch when we got the call. He was suppose to be with us until Aug. 14th.

fairieboy is very conflicted but has agreed to return to Iowa tomorrow. He will fly out of SeaTac Airport on Sunday afternoon, arriving in Chicago in the evening where our ex will pick him up.

Apologies to folks who were looking forward to spending time with fairieboy this week. I know he is not happy about missing them.

I am understandably very upset about losing a week with my child. I understand the necessity but that doesn't mean I have to be happy about it.

We are at the ranch and will do our best to enjoy what little time we have with our friends here in this, our second home. Then we will put our boy on a plane and begin the drive back to the bay area.

Warning: I expect I will be in a pretty lousy mood this week.

Is there any chance she is able/willing to give you a trade-off week at some point in the future?
