Yeah, I remember this. Not much sleep, smell like sour milk, can't wear dangling ear rings. Mother of an infant.

KittenMama here. Yep, took them from the stray cat that birthed them in our garage and left them on the cement floor. So now I feed them every couple of hours, clean them, snuggle them, teach them to pee and poop, litter train them, and generally try to keep them from killing themselves. Parent. Yep.

They are adorable. And two at once is a bit daunting even if they are smaller than a human child. You just get one to sleep, and the other one will wake the sleeping one because she wants to play. They wrestle a lot, seem to have a penchant for biting my nose and ears, and like to perch, crawl around and sleep on shoulders.

Cinder reminds me a lot of my [livejournal.com profile] fairieboy. Like my son, she is the "Let's go, Let's go!" baby who is always exploring and climbing everything. I gotta find a new box with bigger sides since she can already climb out of their current one (playpen/bed). She is so bold she frightens me. I remember our boy launching himself off the bed when crawling too. I guess babies bounce.

On the other hand, my boy didn't have needle sharp claws and teeth. I trimmed the claws, though that took some doing. Teeth, well still very sharp.

So I have stopped using bottle and have them both eating from tiny bowls. I use a mixture of formula and canned kitten food. This way I can slowly wean them off the formula and onto the solid food. They are doing well. Sable eats constantly. She and Patches both were a lot smaller than Cinder. I think Cinder's aggressive personality meant she got fed better. Now that they all have equal access to food, the smaller two are making up for lost meals.

[livejournal.com profile] fairieboy is ecstatic about getting to come home to kittens. He is so very good with animals, that I know he will actually be a good help. He has his Daddy [livejournal.com profile] airshipjones's "Disney Magic" i.e. animals love him. And he adores them. If our boy lived with us full time, I have no doubt we would have even more pets than we do now.

Meanwhile, Oberon has made himself scarce, pretty much avoiding the kittens completely. Willow has been throwing fits and sulking. Today was the first time she has sat in my lap since we brought them into the house. This evening she finally sat on my lap with the kittens on my shoulder. And she has approached them several times curiously without hissing this time. Maybe she will finally get playmates if she can handle sharing her people with them.

Well, gotta get some sleep while the babies do. They will be waking me soon enough. Good night.

Ah, yes. Sibling rivalry. I'm glad Willow is finally adjusting.
