My friend Steven Barnes reports that Octavia Butler is dead. The died suddenly yesterday when blood pooled in her brain. She as a fantastic writer who I admired greatly.

Oh no... she was such a gifted writer. Her words had the ability to pull stark emotion from the written page straight into the readers heart... Very sad.
