fairieboy has flown away. He left early this morning. He is not due back until December.

Yesterday we went to the Monterey Bay Acquarium.

fairieboy and I had a wonderful time. Then we went to Santa Cruz to meet some friends. Their girls came to spend the night and are hanging out with me still until their mom,

godmama can come for them.

fairieboy gets so very sad and upset when he has to leave that we have learned to make his last days here busy ones so that he doesn't have time to fret about it.

They were good days, as was the entire summer. Still he hugs and cries as he says good bye this morning. We have a ritual that we started long ago. I put my hand over his heart and tell him that part of me goes with him, everywhere. He puts his hand over my heart and tells me that part of him stays with me always. We remind each other how much we love each other and always will.

Now my quiet days begin again. There is much for me to do but there won't be any more morning snuggle-time with my boy for many months. I will read and write. I will clean, organize and finish unpacking. I will turn my attention to those things I have neglected while my focus was on him. It is a strange dual life for us and him.

Damn, woman, reading that made me cry. I always make a plea with the gods that he can hold onto his connection with you as well as his unique sense of self so that he can survive another stint in Iowa intact. I'm so glad you got to have more time with him this summer. What a blessing!

Thanks for helping us get Allegra and Rowan to see one another for a bit on Friday. I'm sure they were both happy about that (though it caused us to miss the other party we'd thought we were going to. Oh well.)

For future reference, and speaking of keeping busy... do you want me to list your RW events in our "Weirdness Community Events" listing when I do them? I'm thinking in particular of the Women's teas, but I could include others if you liked.
