Dowsing or divining, is considered a type of divination. It is using some "unknown" sense that helps one located resources, objects or people. The tradition of "water dowsing" is an example of this. Some people can use maps and a pendulum to find things.

My family calls my form of dowsing my "garage sale magic." Basically, I have an uncanny ability to find objects or other needed resources for little or no money. It isn't just that I am a good "bargain hunter" or bargainer, although that helps. I just "find things" that I or others are looking for. This last couple months this magic has been pretty hot for me. It sparked off with finding the house we are in and then escalated into a lot of new furnishings and other cool things for the new house. We have new couches, rugs, dressers, beds, bookcases, and more. In addition, I have found play ground equipment and a trampoline. Yesterday I found four oak chairs that match our dining table (we only had four, now have eight) and a safety net system for the trampoline. I figure that in the last two months we have gotten nearly $5,000-10,000 worth of stuff for less than $1,000. I also give away a lot of stuff too. It does seem that the more I give away sometimes, the stronger my magic gets. Speaking of which, we currently have boxes of clothes, dishes and other odds and ends to give away sitting on our front porch. If you are interested, you might want to look through them before I take them to a charity.

The dowsing magic seems to be a related form of a family trait. For many generations the women in my family have been known as having "the sight." I have done my own type of observation on the family trait. It does, as they say, seem to run genetically. And it seems to become active or particularly accute during puberty. My grandmother was a southern Pentacostal woman who could "speak in tongues" (Christian possession trance). Most of the women in my family have some sort of "knowing" or "dreaming." I seem to be the strongest in my generation, but my nieces and nephews are reporting pretty strong gifts. (It seems the men have had it too but have until recently talked less about it.) The "dreaming" is the most obvious form of it. It is when you dream things that come true. I was amused to listen in on my teenage nephews and nieces critiquing the show "Medium" and how it did and did not compare to their experiences of "the dreaming." I have had extremely intense and frequent experiences with precognitive dreaming for most of my life. In my family, it is understood that when someone in the family dies, they come to others in their dreams to say goodbye. The "knowing" is a little harder to explain or document. I guess it is a type of "intuition." "Knowing" is just that. You know something. You know it even if there is no documentable way you could know it. Even if it isn't logical, rational or otherwise makes sense to others. You just KNOW. I knew our ex would attack me several weeks before she did. There are a lot of pretty profound incidences in our family of this.

Well, just a few interesting (I hope) thoughts on it for the day. Here's hoping you find what you need...

Thank you...

I also give away a lot of stuff too.

And I must say thank you for that!! MB passed along the green dress you gave her/us/me! It fits perfectly, and I just so happen to be wearing it RIGHT NOW! *grin* I love getting hand-me-downs. As a kid, I was the oldest child/grandchild/cousin. All of my cousins got my hand-me-downs. While it was great that my clothes were almost always new, that meant I got fewer of them, depending on family finances.

A few years ago, I have a friend that lost a LOT of weight, and she passed on a very fine wardrobe. I was much in need of new clothes, and hers were used very "gently".

I am on the hunt for some good plus sized 2nd hand stores. Something that will have sizes over 3x. If your magic leads you to find such a place, please let me know. Maybe we can go shopping together. :-)

Glad the dress works. Surprisingly, the Thrift Town on 14th St. has a lot of plus size clothing most of the time. I particularly like shopping they because unlike Goodwill which sorts by color, Thrift Town sorts their clothes by size like a regular store! So it is easy to just check all the large size categories pretty quickly. They get a lot of nice stuff too.

Thanks for the boxes, btw! :-) I picked up another car-load from your driveway last night.

And we should exchange dreaming/knowing stories sometime.
