So, yesterday was [livejournal.com profile] fairieboy's first full scale slumber party. I honor of his 9th Birthday (actually last month) we hosted a Harry Potter Party. 13 children (11 of home stayed the night) and their parents attended the traditional cake, ice cream and presents. After the adults and the smaller kids left, the dozen 6-13 year-olds (our son, one other boy and 10 girls) ran wild in our back yard, had "Magic Potions and Pizza" for dinner, made wands and hats, played games, ate junk food and watched movies. At midnight was light out. Don't think that meant they actually slept. Most kept giggling and talking until 3-4 AM and a couple never got to sleep. Which meant I never really slept.

Although I had a lot of fun, I found myself falling prey to my own memories. You see, my sisters and I were really bad after lights out at our slumber parties. (And I have heard stories from my sisters about their kids.) We use to play "Truth or Dare" and sneak out of the house in the middle of the night. Such "adventures" of my youth made me afraid to sleep last night least these lovely children take it into mind to also experiment. See, we do pay for our misdeeds.

In the morning, kids played some more, watched another movie and played some of the many Harry Potter games [livejournal.com profile] fairieboy was given. They were pretty good kids and everyone seemed to have a good time. By afternoon, I was back down to one kid. After cleaning up some of the aftermath, we took a hot baths (in our new jaccuzi bath) and settled down to read/nap.

What were my sweet spouses doing during all this. Well, they luckily helped me through some of the prep and during the first part. Since this had been my idea and we are still moving, they spent Saturday evening and most of Sunday morning continuing to move things from the old house to the new and helping friends move their stuff as well.
