Moment of Happiness

purplerabbitToday we had one of those magic moments where you realize the world really is a remarkable place.
We received a wedding invitation from a distant cousin of![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
airshipjones. What was remarkable was that the address was addressed to "Troy, Dawn and Lon McKee." What this means is that when the person doing the invitations called airshipjones's family, probably is mother, they were given all three of our names. Years ago, airshipjones family was a source of much pain for us. They are very conservative and were pretty hostile to our "lifestyle." The amazing change is not that they necessarily understand our choices, but they accept them. They accept that the three of us constitute a marriage. There have been several wonderful moments in the last several years where they have shown their love for their son but accepting both his partners. They don't say but continually show that they accept their son has a wife and a husband. It gives me hope not just for our family, but for the world.
