Sssshhhh... It's very very quiet.
Nov. 27th, 2002 01:28 pmSo today has been relatively quiet so far. Quiet for the Warren at least. The phone does tend to ring off the hook around here. And always a lot of things to do...
So I am sitting in my big comfy recliner in the living room with my laptop on my rolling desk watching the antics of two rabbits and two cats. (Oberon is outside somewhere.) Our newest member of the family, Matilda, seems very happy here. She and Warren flirt, snuggle and play together. He is overly amorous, but that's nothing new. He also humps the cats -- well at least the two that let him, Willow and Pierre. Willow and him wrestle a lot. We had thought that Pierre tolerated his attentions but didn't welcome them. Apparently, we were wrong. With Warren paying so much attention to the new bunny, Pierre got lonely and went to him this time. They have spent most the afternoon snuggling.
My day started late. I finally swam up from the depths at around 10:30. I usually wake up between 8:30 and 9 AM. I answered the phone while still half asleep this morning. It was mom's visiting nurse letting me know she would be out today and finding out what medical supplies we needed. Mary has visiting nurses, visiting rehab etc. several times a week.
I then began my day by checking my email and websites for my work: Ebay, Amazon, Craigslist, PayPal, Auctionworks and our bank. I began the work of processing new orders. I had been up until the we hours of the night watching "Panic Room" (Jodie Foster sigh) and entering more data in my sales inventory.
Then Mary work and I began my morning routine there: Empty the bedside commode, bring her a bowl of warm water, washcloth and towel for cleaning, clean out and change the wound dressing, get her breakfast (Lon helped there). Then take all that stuff away. Today was also shampoo day which means getting out the portable sink as well. Then clean and put everything away. Get out clean clothes. Put lotion and slippers on her feet. Make sure she has her lots of ice with lemonade and her morning dish of pills.
I spent over $100 on medications for her yesterday and spent an hour last night putting them in the right proportions and time slots in her weekly pill case. I have to make sure to balance out both the time/quantity recommended by the doctor and even them out so that she takes most of them with meals. I also had a long dispute/discussion with the pharmacy that involving having them change some of the medications to pills that were smaller taken twice a day. Mary can't swallow the large horse pills. She currently takes over a dozen prescribed medications and another half dozen vitamin/mineral supplements.
Alura was at school and then went to a job interview. Lon went to therapy and then grocery shopping. They have both returned while I have been writing this. I am still in my "housedress" and haven't showered, brushed or taken my morning meds yet. I did manage to eat some cereal and drink my morning tea.
The Lewellen horoscope calendar listed five of the last seven days as my "challenging" days this month. They were right. I am looking forward to a little less challenge for a while.
Today I need to make pumpkin pie (from scratch of course, what else does one do with all those pumpkins). I have orders to fill and a lot of paperwork to do. Then there is the cleaning/reorganizing and other tasks to prepare for tomorrow's dinner.
My reward today should be a chiropractic/massage appointment. And geeking with my sweeties tonight.
Love to all,
Dawn
