Sometimes, I need encouragement. Every once in a while, I allow myself to google my name (with a -romance, to edit out the Harlequin writer of the same name). It is fun to see how many hundreds of cites mention me by name. Most of them are places selling my books. Today, I found someone on OKCupid had even list one of my books among their favorites. The other really fun ones are when I find a review of my work or someone using my work (with credit) in their work. Those make my day. It helps to remind me that my words do have an impact on people. That my words matter.
One of the other strange results is the number of times my spoken words have been quoted in interviews, papers, etc. Other times I find personal reminisces of me. The internet can be an odd window into the way others have seen me in the past. It still startles me sometimes how people who haven't seen me in years, even decades, still write vivid recollections of me.
