Weird Fact #5
Sep. 25th, 2005 10:47 pmWeird Fact #5: I love to be read to and I love to read to others.
Some of my best memories are of being read to or vice versa. I read the novel The Planet of the Apes to my first lover, Jackie. I read Stranger in a Strange Land to my cousin Tammy and she read me Ringworld. My boyfriend Chris (Ben) read to me from the works of both Spider Robinson and H.P. Lovecraft. Over and over, I have strong positive memories of sharing stories with people I love. And, I love reading and being read to by my darling child.
My ability to read to others is a bit mixed though. I am dyslexic. Because of this, reading aloud can be a difficult endeavor. I can usually only do it when I have read the material before or written it myself. Reading my own work aloud can be both scarry and fun. I like sharing my writing. But only if it is what the other person is interested in. Kinda of like sex, it is no fun unless both people are enjoying it.
