Okay, so the photo was actually taken over 40 years ago. But after Sunday night's ritual, this is real close. Ritual hair cutting. My mom keeps calling me her "bald baby" again.

Yes, this is a complete purge. Hair holds the past both spiritually and physically. For example, hair holds the chemical signature of many drugs that can be analyzed even years later. I want none of it left in or on me. The longest hair on my body at the moment is below my knees...

For those not familiar with me lately, I had a braided "tail" of hair over two feet long. Use to wear it in a set of three.

The middle son shaved his head last fall (just in time for class pictures!), but after a couple of months decided it was too high-maintenance a look for him. His hair grew back unevenly, and it was too much of a hassle to keep everything shaved. These days, he still keeps it short, about 1/8 of an inch; it's kind of a Doc Savage look.
