My previous post had references to what happened to my dad. If you want to read other posts that explain what happened, there are a couple in the memories section. Especially these:

What a life you've had, Dawn. And how wonderfully you write. Thank you for sharing yourself.

Your post about your parents' connection to Rowan, the Mobius strip of life, brought me to tears. My father died 18 years ago and I miss him as if it were yesterday. I feel the connection between him and my son, and I know that it's there and that it's real.

At one time M felt it too. When he was very small, he would sometimes tell me casually over breakfast that his Grampa Friend came to visit him after he went to sleep the night before. Most often, he and his Grampa Friend would hang out on the porch steps talking about this and that, and then they'd watch videos together. His Grampa Friend always left before morning. This went on for a couple of months and then I didn't hear about it anymore. It comforted me.

My dad was not religious - he was anti-religious, in fact - but he did hold fast to the Jewish belief that people live on in memory. For him it was tangible: when you remember the dead, they are alive on some plane of existence. You really brought your father to life in these entries.

Thanks so much for letting me know how my writing affects you. I enjoyed hearing about your experiences too. I am always amazed by what our children teach us.
